Mass of Christian Burial for August Hageman, age 71, who died Saturday, December 22, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3p.m. until 8 p.m on Wednesday, December 26 at the Schmitz Funeral Home. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Parish Scripture Service at 7 p.m on Wednesday.  Visitation will also be held from 12 p.m. until time of service at the church on Thursday.

   August Hageman (Junior), age 71, of Ossian, Iowa died suddenly on Saturday, December 22, 2007 while working at the farm.

   August Gerald Hageman was born on February 28, 1936, the son of August and Theresa (Schmitt) Hageman on the family farm near Festina, Iowa.  He attended St. Aloysius School in Calmar.  August was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Silver Springs Golf and Country Club, and currently was the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #2073 .

   On October 28, 1958, August was united in marriage to Joyce Miller at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, Iowa.  They lived and farmed for 35 years between Calmar and Ossian where August had lived since he was two.  In 1992, they moved to Ossian, but August continued to help the three sons on the farms.  To this union, six children were born:  Lloyd, Wanda, Alene, Milan, Duane, and Renee.  August enjoyed farming, golfing, cards, traveling, watching baseball, and playing with his grandchildren.

   August is survived by his wife, Joyce of forty-nine years; six children:  Lloyd (Mary) Hageman of Calmar, Wanda (Alan) Lansing of West Union, Alene (Rick) Gates of Des Moines, Milan (Deb) Hageman, Duane Hageman, and Renee (Craig) Bohr all of Ossian.  Seventeen grandchildren:  Nathan (Andrea), Jason, and Tammy Lansing; Weston, Caitlin, Noland, Kevin, Dylan, and Quentin Hageman; Janessa, Allanda, and Brendan Hageman; Danon and Dawson Hageman; and Cassidy, Alyssa, and Mitchell Bohr.  Step grandson, Devin Hermanson.  Four brothers:  Francis (Ann) Hageman, Calmar, Eugene (Jeanne) Hageman, Delbert Hageman, and Robert (JoAnn) Hageman, all of Decorah.  Two sisters:  Marie Brincks, Ossian and Helen Dietzenbach, St. Lucas and many nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers:  Cornelius, Leonard, and Louis; two sisters-in-law:  Frances Hageman and Patricia Hageman; two brothers-in-law: Clarence Brincks and Francis Dietzenbach.
