Earline G. Baker, 90, of Cresco, Iowa, died Thursday, October 25, 2007, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN, from natural causes. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at the Notre Dame Parish in Cresco, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, in Cresco, IA. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday at the Conway Funeral Home and an hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. There will be a 6:00 P.M Legion Auxiliary on Monday. Earline Grace Baker was born on September 25, 1917 in Cresco, Iowa, one of two daughters of Arthur F. and Catherine E. (Brando) Woellstein. She received her education in Cresco and graduated with the Class of 1935. Following high school, she attended AIB and received her education in bookkeeping. She returned to Cresco and started working for various businesses. On June 12, 1939, Earline was united in marriage to Raphael A. Baker at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cresco. They became the parents of two daughters, Pat and Judy. Raphael and Earline lived in the Woellstein home throughout her entire life. She continued living on her own after Raphael died until her health failed and she entered the Evans Memorial Home. Earline had an active life, raising her children, working as a bookkeeper and taking care of her parents until their death. She kept active in her church, the Rosary Society, the Clio Women’s Club, the Legion Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed the family fish fries. She was good with her hands and enjoyed knitting and some crafts. She is survived by her daughters: Pat Mobley (special friend Greg Hammel) of Mason City, IA and Judy (Paul) Polashek of Protivin, IA; six grandchildren: Scott (Kathy) Girkin, Richard (Denise) Girkin and Kim (Bill) Snitker; Cory (friend Sherri) Polashek, Eric Polashek and Adam (friend Ashley) Polashek; eight great grandchildren: Nathan and Claire Earline Girkin; Brook, Brice, Brady and Baili Girkin; Callie Jo and Abbey Snitker; one sister Marjie Ernst of Jesup, IA. Earline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raphael on November 28, 1994. |
