Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at St. Francis de Sales Church with burial in the church cemetery, both in Ossian. Visitation will be Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Ossian from 4 PM to 8 PM. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Gina Louise Imoehl was born on September 26, 1967 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Ann (Hertges) Schmitt. She grew up in the Ossian area, attended DeSales grade school and graduated from South Winneshiek High School. She was baptized at St. Luke’s Church in St. Lucas, IA. Gina celebrated first communion at the St. John’s Church in Fort Atkinson, IA, and received her confirmation at St. Francis DeSales Church in Ossian. She graduated from Northeast Iowa Community College and was presently attending Upper Iowa University.
On July 28, 1990, she was united in marriage to Lenny Imoehl, to this union three sons were born, and they were later divorced.
Gina worked at Jack & Jill as a Deli Manager, she worked a short time at Lands End, she served a term in the Army Reserves and recently she was employed in Customer Service at Norplex in Postville. She continued to keep herself busy, raising her sons and was studying to get a degree in Business Management. She loved to visit and was very proud of her sons.
Gina is survived by her sons: Zachary, Cody, and Jeremy all at home, her former husband: Lenny of Castalia, IA; her father, Floyd (Deb) Schmitt of Castalia, IA; five sisters: Angie (Don) Ellis of Castalia, IA, Jenny Baumgartner of West Union, IA, Julie (Andy) Plozel of Postville, IA, Kristie (Dean) Baumler of Ossian, IA, and Amanda Schmitt of Clive, IA; two step sisters: Jessica Leftwich and Sara (Juan) Navaro, both of Castalia, IA and her Grandfather Leonard Hertges of Decorah, IA.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Schmitt in 2004, and one brother, Joseph Floyd Schmitt in infancy and her grandparents: Joseph and Anna Schmitt and Viola Hertges.
Gina died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Friday, December 14, 2007 at the age of 40.
