   Leonard Zweibohmer died at his home on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 73 years of age.

   Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2008 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.  Rev. Donald Hertges will officiate. The family will place the pall, servers will be Austin and Levi Klimesh, and Korey Stockman; lector will be Gary Lansing, gifts will be carried by: Kim and Shawn Zweibohmer, Amy Moudry and Kaylie Klimesh; organist will be Alan Sensor and Don DiLaura will sing On Eagles' Wings, Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross and How Great Thou Art 

   Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m on Thursday at the Schmitz Funeral Home and on Friday from 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. There will be a Vigil Service at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home presided by Rev. David Beckman.

   Leonard Albert Zweibohmer was born on February 11, 1934, in Ossian, Iowa, the son of John C. and Justina C. (Klemmer) Zweibohmer.  He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and attended school at St. Francis de Sales.  Following his education, he worked at Lensing Service Station in Festina and on September 3, 1952, he entered the U.S. Army at Ft. Des Moines. He served during the Korean Conflict attaining the rank of Corporal. Leonard was discharged on July 2, 1954 and spent six more years in the Reserves.

   On August 21, 1956, Leonard was united in marriage to Eunice Lansing in St. Francis de Sales Church at Ossian, Iowa. They became the parents of four children: Kim, Randall, Shawn and Amy.  Leonard and Eunice made Ossian their home and for 53 years Leonard worked on road construction for Reilly Construction. He liked his work, was an excellent employee and worked his way up to become job foreman.

   Leonard was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, the Brockman-Hammersland Post #605 of the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.  He spent most of his time working, but did enjoy going to the boat, and loved to have his grandchildren come to visit.  He would have room on his lap for all of them.

  He is survived by his wife, Eunice; two sons: Kim of Ossian, IA, and Shawn (Kathy) of Eugene, OR; one daughter, Amy (Brad) Moudry of Calmar, IA; four grandchildren: Austin, Levi and Kaylie Klimesh, and Breanna Moudry; one brother, Norbert Zweibohmer of Ossian, IA; two sisters: Corrine (Ralph) Lansing of Festina, IA and Marie Monroe of Ossian, IA.

   Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Randall Zweibohmer, one grandson, Joseph Klimesh, two sisters: an infant sister, and Marcie Hinders; one brother, Arthur Zweibohmer.
