Luverne W. Kach, age 88, died Saturday, December 15, 2007, at the Cresco Care Center in Cresco, Iowa of natural causes. Funeral Services for Luverne Kach will be held on Monday, December 17, 2007 at Notre Dame Church in Cresco, Iowa at 2:00 PM with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at the church. Luverne Kach was born in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Winnie A (Teetshorn) Kach. As a young child, the family moved to a farm near Ridgeway, Winneshiek County, Iowa. He attended Beusher School near the farm where he lived. After schooling, he worked as a farm hand in the area. While doing that work, he won a Corn Husking Championship for Howard County. He went to work for the Railroad and did so for 35 years. On January 30, 1940, he was united in marriage to Mildred E. Baker at the Assumption Parsonage. They moved often working for the railroad, living in Rose Creek, MN, then Lime Springs, IA for the last 26 years of working. When he retired, they moved into Cresco. He is survived by his wife: Mildred of Cresco, one sister: Virgie Hruska of Cresco, several nieces and nephews. Luverne was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Milton Kach, and two sisters: Evelyn Lewis and Alice Mosley. |
