Marlene Wentworth passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Regional Health Services Hospital in Cresco, Iowa after a lingering illness. She was 62 years of age. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the First Congregational Church, with burial in New Oregon Cemetery, both in Cresco. Pastor Tim Sir will officiate. Visitation will be held a the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and at the church from 12 p.m. until time of services on Saturday. Marlene Ann Wentworth was born in Rochester, Minnesota on December 1, 1944, the daughter of Orville and Ethel (Farley) Wallace. She received her education in the schools of Rochester and following her education was working in a pet store. It was in this pet store that she met her future husband. On February 21, 1963, Marlene was united in marriage to Ronald Duane Wentworth in the Methodist Church in Rochester, MN. She and Ronald made their first home together in Cresco, later moving to Charles City, IA, then to Owatonna, MN and later to Bigfork, MN and finally after about 9 years in Bigfork, they moved back to Cresco, where she has lived the remainder of her life. Marlene spent most of her life as a homemaker for her husband and four children, but after Ron was injured while working, she worked as a nurse aide in homes in Bigfork and also in Cresco. She was no longer able to work after her health failed. Marlene was a person who enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed doing things with the ones she cared about like fishing and hunting. She also enjoyed crocheting and looking after her grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Rhonda (Erv) Andrews, Ron Wentworth, Dean (Tina) Wentworth, all of Cresco and Bill Wentworth of Ft. Atkinson, IA; eleven grandchildren: Marie Steere, Robert Andrews, Kevin Andrews, Karissa Andrews, Miranda Wentworth, Timothy Wentworth, William Wentworth Jr., Daniel Wentworth, Thearza Wentworth, Anthony Sherman, and Joshua Gihring; one great granddaughter: Alexandria Steere; one sister: Janet Smith of Wykoff, MN and one brother, Bill (Sue) Wallace of Aurora, MO. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ron on August 21, 2001, one brother, Dale Wallace and two sisters: JoAnne Jones and Jean Terrell.
