   Phyllis Mullen died Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Regional Health Services Hospital in Cresco, Iowa after a short illness. She was 94 years of age.

   Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in Cresco. Rev. Richard J. Ament will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held for 1 hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

   Phyllis Mary Mullen was born on December 3, 1913 at Harmony, Minnesota, the daughter of Patrick and Mayme (McCabe) Walsh. She attended the rural school and Harmony High School. Following her education she worked as a nanny for a family in the Harmony area. She later worked for a family in Cresco and it was at this time that she met John B. Mullen.

   On October 18, 1938, Phyllis was united in marriage to John B. Mullen in the Assumption Catholic Church at Canton, MN. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Cresco area and in 1969 they moved into Cresco.  On April 16, 1963, Phyllis started working as a nurse aide at the Evans Memorial Home which she did for 22 years. Phyllis enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidery and doing word search puzzles. Phyllis also liked reading, watching TV and visiting. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

   Phyllis was a long time active member of the Assumption Church, and the Rosary Society.

   She is survived by her children: Patricia (John) Ferrie of Cresco, IA, Margaret “Peg” Mullen of Robbinsdale, MN, John (Gilda) Mullen of Cresco, IA, Colleen (Dale) Ladwig of Plymouth, MN, Barbara (Harry) Weflen of Oakdale, MN, Thomas Mullen and Mary (Tom) Kleve of Cresco, IA; fifteen grandchildren: Sue (Jahn) Stopperan, Jane (Stu) Gorden and Brian (Kris) Ferrie; Amy and Ryan Mullen; Jeff (JoDene) Mullen, Deb (Al) Reicks, and Terri Mullen; Jen (Bryan) Dahlstrom, and Kristy Ladwig; Katie (Pete) Heyer, and Matt Weflen; Kari (Shane) Geiselhart; Brenda (Randy) Mashek and Sara Kleve; 18 great grandchildren: Jacqueline, Ashley and Colton Stopperan; Kyle and Larin Gorden; Alexa and Logan Ferrie; Donovan Mullen; Makayla and Rieley Mullen; Andrew Mullen; Tim, Taylor and Justine Reicks; Emily Mullen; Quinn Dahlstrom; Kate Geiselhart and Macie Mashek; one sister: Marian (Oliver) Halverson of Harmony, MN.

   Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John on January 11, 1996; two sons: William and Daniel Mullen; a daughter-in-law: Sue Mullen; four brothers: Harold, Leo, Ray, and Jerry Walsh; and two sisters: Eileen Gaster and Helen Scherer
